2002 Yacht Smiths Intl. Custom Trawler, 61' M/V Metaphor - life as it should be, at sea or at the dock. Metaphor, from stem to stern, expresses the utmost in quality workmanship, high performance, and a gracious lifestyle. Meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout, especially in such thoughtful features as a "day head" near the engine room and custom woodwork in every locker. Her combination of elegant systems design, spacious compartments, and fine finish work put Metaphor in a class, in terms of quality and comfort, with vessels twice her size and price. Metaphor was built in Halifax, Nova Scotia, her keel laid July 2001. She was finished to the highest specifications in Norfolk, Virginia in December 2002. After a maiden season in the Bahamas, she returned to Norfolk to summer on the Chesapeake Bay. Her sturdy sixty-foot steel hull and aluminum superstructure house a spacious and comfortable interior, making her the perfect live-aboard or extended-cruising vessel. She cruises comfortably at nine knots and handles rough water beautifully, taking 18-foot beam seas in stride crossing the Bay of Fundy. Her quiet 435-horsepower Volvo diesel is in a full-headroom work-bench-equipped engine room. | |||
